The board also accepted the immediate resignation of Mary Stewart, who resigned as special education teacher. She was fined $1,500 for breaking contract.

Laura Spurlin resigned effective Sept. 20 from food service.

The board hired Jamie Altman as a special education paraprofessional and Clay Ashworth as a maintenance worker. Both moves were unanimous.

Also during the meeting, board members:

• Received an update from the Parent-Teacher Organization. Darci Malam told the board a huge amount of school supplies were collected or purchased for the elementary school.

• Were given information about “air emergency insurance” as a payroll deduction to district employees. There is no cost to the district. A representative from MASA Assist will make a presentation to employees.

• Approved an early graduation request from Michaelah Knarr contingent on her meeting all local and state requirements.
