The Houston Senior Center’s annual Helping Hands walk is Friday.

Seniors will be collecting pledges and walking in the event to raise $5,000 for congregate and home bound delivered meals programs, services and activities for than 60 seniors in the community.

One-and three-mile routes will be mapped out for participants. The walk begins from the center’s Grand Avenue location.

The senior center served 40,524 home bound and congregate meals last year. It has served meals for clients in the Licking area since its senior center became independent in 2015.

“Recipients of homebound meals and services are part of an age group that is rapidly growing in numbers,” said administrator Bernadine Hohlt, “and it should be recognized that increased human and financial resources are required to meet the need for home bound meals and services for seniors. We are asking for your help in this annual event. Even if you just give a little, it all adds up to help keep services for seniors in our community available.

To make a donation or volunteer to walk, call Hohlt at 417-967-4119.
