The Houston High School volleyball team lost its regular-season finale 25-17, 25-23 Thursday night at Winona.

Brooke McCown had five kills to lead the Lady Tigers (5-23). Chloe Hunninghake had four assists.

Melody Buse led the team with 11 digs. Sevanna Rowland had two aces.

Houston, which averages a 2.0 passing rating, was 1.66 in the loss.

“One of our strengths all year has been our passing, and we just didn’t have it (Thursday) night,” Lady Tigers coach Loran Richardson said. “We played pretty good defense and hit well but when you can’t pass, you can’t do much else. Winona is a very good team, and we played right with them.”

The Lady Tigers open district play at 4 p.m. Monday against Cabool.
