A Houston man is charged with four felonies after an incident at a trailer park on Tuesday.
Authorities said they responded to a report of a burglary at a residence at the Northview Lane trailer park, just north of Houston. A man who lives there stated that he was sitting with his back to his home’s back door, and a man came through the door and “grabbed him in a choke hold and slung him to the ground.”
The victim told the officer he had no feeling from the neck down. He was taken to Texas County Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
As a result of an investigation, Joseph Croff, 49, of Houston, was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail. During the booking process, a folded paper was found on him that contained a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, authorities said.
Croff is charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance at a county jail. He is held on $250,000 bond.
