Marie Frances Wenger Clemmons, 90, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017.
She was born Nov. 1, 1926, in Hartford, S.D., daughter of Emil and Amelia Lueth Wenger. She and ray Eugene Clemmons were married in September 1947. They divorced in 1959.
She graduated from eighth grade in April 18, 1941, in Bloodland before the family moved to Licking. She went to Chicago in 1943 at the age of 17. She stayed with her aunt, Marie Appell, while she worked at Mt. Sinai Hospital. She worked several jobs before joining Pepsodent. She started there as a machine operator on a production line and worked her way up to inspector. She retired in 1990 after being inducted into the “Quarter Century Club.”
She loved music. She picked at the guitar as a young girl and played the accordion in adult life. She enjoyed collecting sheet music, reading and taking care of her house. She loved birds, flowers and nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Robert Chester Wenger, Ronald Roy
Wenger and Emil Herbert Wenger; and two sisters Jean Lorene Wenger and Ramona Ruth Myers.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Marie Davis of Barboursville, W.V.; a son, Edward Eugene Clemmons of Oak Lawn, Ill.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin Henry Wenger of St. Louis and Lawrence Edward Wenger of Douglasville, Ga.; a sister, Nina Mae Gaines of Smyrna, Tenn.; and many other relatives.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Licking Cemetery.
