Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway visits with middle school students last Wednesday morning at the Houston R-1 School District.

Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway visited Houston schools last week to commend the district for its policy on data breaches.

As part of Cyber Awareness Month, Galloway stopped on campus last Wednesday to recognize Houston for its stance that families will be notified if their personal information on file with the district is compromised.

“It is not state law that the school district make families aware, but the school district has taken the extra step of implementing that policy. That is a great thing,” Galloway said.

Galloway presented Dr. Allen Moss, superintendent, and other school representatives with a certificate as a “Cyber Aware School.” She also spoke briefly to a classroom of middle school students and answered their questions about her role as state auditor.

Galloway, a Democrat, took office in 2015.
