GOLF SCRAMBLE WILL BENEFIT HOOPS PROGRAMS

The Houston High School basketball teams are hosting their second annual golf tournament Oct. 14 at Oakwood Golf Club. Proceeds will be used to purchase new uniforms.

The three-person scramble will have shotgun starts at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Cost is $180 per team and includes green fees, cart and lunch from noon until 1:30 p.m. A post tournament award banquet with flight winner prizes will be held.

HMS FOOTBALL TEAMS LOSE TO LIBERTY

Nathan Garnica had a five-yard touchdown run in the Houston seventh grade football team’s 20-6 loss last Thursay to Liberty.

Defensively, Anthony Carroll had a forced fumble and Danny Venable had a fumble recovery.

EIGHTH GRADE: Korbyn Tune had a five-yard touchdown run in the Tigers’ 66-8 loss last Thursday to Liberty. Bailey Hurst ran in the two-point conversion.
