The Houston volleyball team honored its seniors by snapping a long streak.
The Lady Tigers led wire-to-wire Tuesday night to defeat Salem 25-19, 25-19, inside Hiett Gymnasium.
The victory snapped an 11-match losing skid for Houston (4-21). It was also the team’s first South Central Association win of the year.
The match was the final one for seniors Brooke McCown, Chloe Hunninghake and Sevanna Hunninghake. They were honored after the match alongside family members.
“It was a great win for senior night,” HHS coach Loran Richardson said. “The girls played tough the whole game. I was proud of us for finishing up our home games in such a strong way.”
McCown had six kills and Kennedy Campbell added five. Alexis Choate handed out 13 assists.
Melody Buse had a team-best 14 digs. Hunninghake, Rowland, Buse and Maddison Barton all had aces.
“We have three regular-season games left, all of which could be wins for us,” Richardson said. “If we play like we can, we will go into districts looking strong.”
