Clay Hubert Gruben, 79, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at Ozarks Medical center in West Plains.

He was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Hartshorn, son of Charles A. Gruben and Rosie Pearl Spencer Gruben. He and Phyllis Kay Haley were married April 12, 1996.

He attended and graduated from Summersville Schools. He was a member of Smith Chapel Church in West Plains.

He was a member of the Summersville Masonic Lodge #555 for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine in Springfield.

He was a lifelong cattle buyer and trader for many years. He ran a stock cattle operation for most of his life. He also sold TCI Minerals, Fertilizer and Lime.

He won many farming awards during his farming years. He enjoyed meeting his friends for morning coffee and telling old stories to everyone who would listen. He loved driving the farm on his golf cart and checking his deer cameras, fishing as often as possible and working with his son, Bryan, on the farm.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sherry Smith; a brother, Leon Gruben; and an infant brother.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Phyllis Gruben of the home in West Plains; a son, Bryan Gruben of Fordland; four grandchildren; two great-grand-daughters; and many friends.

Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Combs officiating. Burial was in Riley Cemetery.
