Behind a strong second quarter Monday, the Houston eighth-grade boys beat Cabool 33-17 to win their South Central Association opener.

Josh Smith scored a team-best eight points for the Tigers (2-3, 1-1 SCA). Cooper Mills, who scored eight points, and Hunter McKinney had two 3-pointers apiece.

On Tuesday, Wiley Sisco had 10 points in Houston’s 38-29 home loss to Liberty.

The Tigers were unable to sustain an 11-4 advantage after the first quarter.

SEVENTH GRADE: Anthony Carroll scored 20 points in the Tigers’ 48-35 defeat Tuesday night against Liberty. Garyn Hall added six points for Houston (1-3, 1-1 SCA).
