After being denied a motion for continuance last Monday in a Texas County courtroom procedure, a Houston woman will be tried by jury Nov. 30 on a statutory rape charge stemming from an incident in June 2016.
Sherri Long-Bucchi, 38, of 8785 U.S. 63 in Houston, was charged last April 17 with second-degree statutory rape (a class C felony) resulting from an investigation by Texas County Sheriff’s Department authorities.
According to a report, the officer spoke to a woman who stated her minor-aged son had sexual relations with an adult woman. The alleged victim’s mother told the officer several boys were gathered in a downstairs room of Long-Bucchi’s residence watching a movie, when she went upstairs.
The victim’s mother stated he then went upstairs, too, and ended up having illegal sexual relations with Long-Bucchi.
The deputy reported that Long-Bucchi was brought to the TCSD and interviewed, and she confessed to the incident but claimed the alleged victim initiated the contact.
Long-Bucchi’s bond was set at $200,000 and according to court records she bonded out in early May. Judge Bill Hickle is scheduled to preside over the trial, which is set for courtroom A in the Texas County Justice Center.
