Bessie Imogene Blake, 73, passed away Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, at her home in Summersville.
She was born March 24, 1944, in El Dorado, Kan., daughter of Roger Howard and Bessie Emiline Stacy Keeling. She and James “Gene” Eugene Blake were married Nov. 18, 1962.
She graduated from Eminence High School in 1962. She worked as a home health nurse for many years.
She loved her clients and made many friends. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved music and was happiest when she was in the presence of family and singing about God’s love.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gary and J.R.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Blake of the home; four children, Brenda Smith and Kandra Kirker of Summersville, Darrin Blake of Ash Grove and Kimberly Courtney of Rolla; 10 grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; three siblings, Marlene Brawley, Kenny Keeling and Robin Porter; and other family members.
Services were Sunday, Nov. 19, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Steelman and the Rev. Jerry Baylock officiating. Burial was in Flatwoods Cemetery.
