The Houston seventh-grade girls’ basketball team won back-to-back games this week with strong offensive performances.

Aliyah Walker scored 11 points and Mackenzie Bryan had 10 in the Lady Tigers’ 40-15 victory Thursday night against Mountain Grove. Two nights earlier, Walker had 13 points in a 40-6 win against Willow Springs.

Houston improved to 4-2 and 2-1 in the South Central Association.

Eight different players scored in the win against Mountain Grove. Gracie Tottingham and Karlee Curtis had six apiece. Mackenzie Arthur added three points and Olivia Crites, Katie Chipps and Rhease Manier had two apiece.

On Tuesday, Houston jumped ahead 12-2 after the opening quarter and led by 20 at the half. Curtis and Bryan scored eight points apiece.

In Monday’s conference opener, Houston scored the game’s first nine points but couldn’t hang onto the advantage and lost 30-21 to Ava. Walker led the Lady Tigers with eight points.
