Houston High School junior Paydon Dixon and five of his teammates were named Thursday to the Class 2 Southwest Region football team.
Dixon was selected as a second team defensive back by the region coaches. He was joined by Gavin Alston, Dalton James, Robert Faupel, Michael Clayton and Aiden Sawyer as honorable mentions.
Dixon, a safety, led HHS with two interceptions and ranked second on the team with 83 tackles and 10 tackles for losses despite missing one game with an injury.
Alston, a receiver, had 57 rushes for 297 yards and two touchdowns his senior season. He added six catches for 33 yards.
James, a senior, was the top offensive lineman for a Houston ground game that improved as the season progressed. Houston had 1,688 rushing yards –– for a 4.2 yards per carry average –– and 21 touchdowns on the ground.
Faupel, a senior defensive lineman, ranked third on the team with eight tackles for losses and had 56 total tackles.
Clayton, a senior who moved from defensive end to linebacker midseason, led HHS with 11 tackles for losses, four sacks and three forced fumbles. He ranked fourth on the team with 71 tackles.
Sawyer, a linebacker, had 57 tackles and seven tackles for losses his junior season. He also forced a fumble.
