A strong finish gave the Houston Tigers their first win of the season.
Trailing 12-7 after the opening quarter Friday night, HHS used an offensive flurry to down Morrisville 62-37 in the consolation bracket of the Mansfield Invitational.
The Tigers (1-3) will play in the consolation finale at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Sophomore Clayton Moore hit three of Houston’s five 3-pointers en route to a team high 17 points. Ty McCloud scored 11 and Michael Zamarron added nine points and seven rebounds.
Kyler Ramsey, a sophomore point guard, returned to the court for the first time after sitting out with a finger injury. He had seven points and four assists.
The Tigers used a 15-7 edge in the second quarter to take a three-point halftime advantage. The lead grew to double figures as Houston scored 21 of the game’s 28 third-quarter points.
HHS shot 49 percent and was 5-for-18 from downtown. Paydon Dixon had team highs of five assists and three steals.
