The Houston Tigers just missed pulling off a holiday tournament upset.

Thirteenth-seeded HHS stayed close the entire way Tuesday with No. 4 Licking in the opening round of the Cabool Holiday Tournament. The Wildcats held on 55-51.

Paydon Dixon and Clayton Moore scored 17 points apiece in the win. Both hit four 3-pointers. Ty McCloud added 12.

The Tigers (2-6) play Alton at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the consolation round.

Licking (8-1) won its eighth straight game.
