Two issues facing southern Missouri cattle producers will be addressed this month during a seminar in Mountain Grove.
Dry weather this fall has left some area producers short on winter forage supplies. The first topic of the Jan. 23 meeting will deal with the situation. Dr. Eric Bailey, MU State Extension beef cattle nutritionist, will talk about economical ways to stretch short hay supplies without compromising the nutritional needs of your animals.
The second presentation of the day will be on anaplasmosis by Dr. Craig Payne, MU State Extension veterinarian. This disease, not widely understood by area cattlemen, has grown in significance in recent years. Payne will talk about detection, treatment and the impact the disease can have on a herd.
The seminar will begin at 1 p.m. at the Missouri State University Fruit Experiment Station. The same seminar will be at 1 p.m., Jan. 22, at the Ozark County Extension Center in Gainesville and 6:30 p.m. at the Howell County Extension Center in West Plains.
