Fern Mayberry Hassell, 99, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017.

She was born June 4, 1918, in Prescott, daughter of John Allen and Mattie Noble Mayberry.

Her first job was a janitor at a schoolhouse earning $1.50 per hour. She also worked at Rawlings Manufacturing.

She enjoyed quilting, cooking and gardening. She especially enjoyed her family get togethers and bowling.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and attended as long as her health permitted.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chris, a daughter Pam Creech; five sisters; and a brother.

Survivors include two daughters, Audrey Friend and Irene Lingo; two sons, Wayne Kimrey and Gary Hassell; two sisters, Leota Courtney and Lou Ann Stewart; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special niece and caregiver, Glenda.

Services are Wednesday, Jan. 3, at First Baptist Church, Licking, with Pastor Rob Lilly officiating. Burial will be in Licking Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
