The primary is Tuesday, Aug. 7. 

Filings open next month for several offices in what appears to be a year of politics.

In Texas County, voters will elect several county officeholders. The terms of Prosecuting Attorney Parke Stevens Jr., County Clerk Laura Crowley, Associate Circuit Judge Doug Gaston, Circuit Clerk Marci Mosley, Recorder of Deeds Lindsay Koch and Presiding Commissioner Fred Stenger expire. All are four-year terms.  All are Republicans.

Township committeemen and committeewomen will be elected in August.

Voters also decide several other offices. The term of Rep. Robert Ross, R-Yukon, expires. Circuit Judge William “Bill” Hickle of Rolla, a Republican, is completing his first six-year term that expires at the end of the year. Also on the ballot are races for U.S. senator and Missouri auditor. The term of U.S. Rep. Jason Smith, R-Salem, also expires.

Filings open Feb. 27 and close a month later.
