The Houston Tigers couldn’t overcome the loss of several key players.

With two starters knocked out of Saturday’s game with Bourbon and another key player fouling out, HHS didn’t have enough firepower down the stretch. Behind its trapping defense, Bourbon went on a 12-0 fourth-quarter run to pull away for a 56-43 win against Houston inside Hiett Gymnasium.

Houston (7-10) lost point guard Kyler Ramsey to a finger injury in the second quarter. Ty McCloud left in the fourth when he was poked in the eye.

The Tigers missed both players, especially Ramsey, as they struggled with Bourbon’s halfcourt trap.

“With injuries like that, it’s hard to win a game,” HHS assistant coach Mason Miller said.

Clayton Moore led Houston with 14 points. Dakota Burchett added 10.

Houston learned last week that starting guard Paydon Dixon will miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery. Miller said Ramsey might also be finished with an apparent broken finger.

Houston’s Isaiah Buse (0) puts up a first-half shot over Bourbon’s Ryan Fetters on Saturday night.

“It’s tough when you lose your ballhandlers,” he said.
