A Texas County school district is closing its doors the rest of the week due to the flu.

Raymondville Schools said its attendance had dropped to 67 percent Tuesday afternoon due to confirmed flu cases. The district decided to dismiss Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Classes will resume Feb. 5.

First Baptist Church of Houston cancelled its Wednesday night AWANA program and youth group due to the number of flu cases.

The Houston School District remains in session. The elementary attendance was 87 percent at 9 a.m. Wednesday. The middle and high school, which share a building, was 90 percent.

According to the Texas County Health Department, there were 321 confirmed influenza cases in Texas County as of Sunday. There were 67 new cases last week – down three from the previous week’s tally of 70, the department said. Next week’s report will show if the number of cases has peaked.

There were 212 cases of Influenza A and another 101 of Influenza B. Untyped stood at eight.

2-4 — 26

5-14 — 36

15-24 — 15

25-49 — 37

50-64 — 31

65 or older — 48
