After winning the opening game of the Conway Tournament, the Houston Tigers lost both games in the winner’s bracket.

Michael Zamarron scored 11 points and Isaiah Buse had 10 in the Tigers’ 48-38 defeat to Hollister in Friday’s third-place game.

After falling behind 15-7, HHS (7-12) managed to pull within a point at the half. But Hollister used an 18-7 advantage in the third quarter to pull away.

In last Thursday’s semifinals, the Tigers lost 50-26 to Conway.

It was a similar game flow for HHS as the Tigers trailed by just three at the half before Conway pulled away. Houston was outscored 15-6 in the third and 18-6 in the fourth.

Zamarron and Ty McCloud scored eight points apiece to lead the Tigers, who managed just 10 field goals. No other player scored more than three points.
