A Salem man faces numerous charges following an arrest Saturday afternoon in Texas County.

A Salem fugitive — wanted for questioning about a stolen Pontiac vehicle believed on Texas County township roads — was arrested Saturday following a search by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Shawn B. Alterauge, 39, was arrested by the patrol at about 4 p.m. Saturday. He was arrested on a felony probation and patrol warrant, felony resisting arrest by fleeing, misdemeanor Taney County warrant for failure to appear, driving while revoked – second offense, careless and imprudent driving, wearing no seat belt and numerous traffic charges.

Authorities said a license plate removed from a stolen Texas County truck had been placed on the Pontiac. The truck was recovered.

Alterauge was taken by the patrol to the Texas County Jail. He is held without bond.

Details about the investigation are expected to be released later by the patrol.
