Texas County authorities are investigating the theft of gates from a business.

The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A 34-year-old Houston reported a trespasser at his residence in a Northview Lane trailer park at about 1 p.m. Jan. 30.

The man told an investigating deputy that the suspect was a 29-year-old woman who had been living with him. He said he felt unsafe and wanted to know how he could stop the woman from coming around him.

The officer advised the man about how to get a protection order.

•A 60-year-old Hartshorn man reported on Feb. 3 that 27 metal farm gates worth $125 apiece had been stolen from behind his Highway KK store. The man stated the theft happened sometime between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. the previous evening. There are no suspects.

•A 56-year-old Houston man reported on Feb. 3 that someone had set fire to several hay bales at his Brushy Creek Road property at Raymondville.

The man told an investigating officer that during the past year someone has set five fires at the property. The officer observed that the bales were far enough from a roadway that a thrown cigarette would not have caused the blaze.

There are no suspects.

•A 61-year-old Houston man reported on Feb. 3 that someone had set fire to a single hay bale on his Brushy Creek Road property at Raymondville. There are no suspects.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 7:25 p.m. Feb. 3 regarding a report of an assault at a Highway H residence at Elk Creek.

The officer made contact with a 59-year-old man there who said another man had been assaulted and was lying under the carport bleeding. The officer observed that nobody was under the carport, and the man stated he had used meth just before coming home and wanted to go to a hospital for help. The man was transported to Texas County Memorial Hospital.

•A 26-year-old Mountain Grove man reported at about 11:30 p.m. Feb. 2 that two men were in the basement of his County Line Road residence and wouldn’t leave.

The man told an investigating deputy that the men were shaking a floor joist and causing the whole house to shake.

The officer observed that the house didn’t have a basement, but had a crawl space that was locked from the outside. There was reportedly no sign that anybody had been there.

The officer explained the situation to the man, and the man said the suspects had left just before the officer arrived. The man then stated the officer was no longer needed and thanked the sheriff’s department for responding.

•A 50-year-old woman who lives in Camillus, N.Y., reported on Jan. 21 that her estranged husband, who lives in Raymondville, had been sending nude photographs of her to her employers and co-workers in New York. She stated the photos were taken with her consent when she and the man were still together, but had been distributed without her consent.

A report was sent to the county prosecutor.
