Irma Mae Haney, 87, formerly of Houston, passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, in Statesboro, Ga.
She was born Feb. 22, 1930, in Dykes, daughter of Thomas and Eunice Williams. She and Harold Booker were married June 28, 1947. He passed away Jan. 3, 1972. She later married Howard Haney, who passed away Aug. 10, 2008.
She grew up in the Houston area and attended Houston High school.
She worked many years at local factories and grocery stores. She did volunteer work at the Texas County Library, senior center and local elections.
She enjoyed making quilts for her friends and relatives. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Houston for many years before attending Houston Bible Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Steve Booker; and brother, Patrick “Bud” Hamilton.
Survivors include a son, Stan Booker of Marietta, Ga.; a granddaughter; a grandson; three great-granddaughters; a great-grandson; two sisters ,Patsy Hutcheson of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Linda Bruce of Union, Iowa; a brother, Leon Hamilton of Winchester, Tenn.; special friends, Wilbur and Betty Akers of Houston; and many other family members.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday, March 1, at Evans Funeral Home with Pastor David Barbee officiating. Burial will be in Pine Lawn Cemetery.
