A Licking couple was injured Wednesday night in a Carter County accident that killed one person.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said George P. Findley, 85, had moderate injuries and Betty J. Findley, 78, was seriously injured in the 8:30 p.m. U.S. 60 accident at Highway A in Ellsinore. The driver of another vehicle, Joanna C. Hedge, 23, of Grandin, was killed.
The patrol said the fatal wreck occurred when Hedge failed to yield to the Findley’s 2005 Kia Sorento when she was crossing over the westbound lane. Hedge, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital.
George and Betty Findley were taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital. George Findley was wearing a seat belt. Betty Findley was not.
Both vehicles were totaled.
