Peggy “Peg” Jean Eickhoff, 73, of Cabool, died Tuesday, Feb., 13, 2018, at Texas County Memorial Hospital,.

She was born Nov. 7, 1944, in West Union, Iowa, daughter of Oliver and Mildred Cline Westpfahl. She and Eugene James Eickhoff were married Dec. 3, 1966, in Mabel, Minn.

She was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church of Hawkeye, Iowa. She received her education in Waucoma and graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1962. After high school, she attended and completed cosmetology school.

She and her husband, Gene, made a living as bar owners in Hawkeye, Iowa, and farming in the Alpha community. She also worked as a licensed cosmetologist in many Iowa communities until 1973. While Gene ran a construction company, she was a homemaker and home school teacher to her three sons.

She enjoyed thrift store shopping, playing cards, crossword puzzles, Wheel of Fortune, fishing and collecting Depression glass. She cared for and fostered numerous animals throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Oliver “Junior” Westpfahl.

Survivors include her husband, Gene of Cabool; three sons, Jeremy Eickhoff of Hawkeye, Iowa, Cody Eickhoff of Dunkerton, Iowa, and Colton Eickhoff of Oelwein, Iowa; six grandchildren; a brother, Keith Westpfahl of Hawkeye, Iowa; a sister, Judy Treloar of Waucoma, Iowa; longtime family caregiver and friend, Sarah Pieschke of Cabool; and other family members and friends.

A Celebration of life will be held in Iowa at a date to be determined by the family.
