Area churches are holding special services and events this weekend to celebrate Easter.
Activities begin in Texas County from 7-11 a.m. Friday with the annual Carry The Cross. More than one thousand people are expected to be lined along U.S. 63 from Cabool to Licking with life-size crosses.

FRIDAY
•Houston’s First Baptist Church will host a community Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 30.
SUNDAY
•A sunrise service followed by breakfast starts at 7 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church, Houston. Sunday school is 10 a.m. and morning worship service is 11 a.m. The evening service is dismissed.
•Ozark Baptist Church, Houston, is holding a sunrise service at 8 a.m. Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m., followed by Sunday school and the morning worship service.
•A glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunt begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Faith Fellowship. Afterwards, there will be a free breakfast, family photos and prizes. At 10:30 a.m., there will be energetic programming for children and an upbeat worship experience.

•Krispy Kreme doughnuts and flavor coffee will be served starting at 10 a.m. Sunday at Life Church. The service begins at 10:45 a.m. with a special presentation from Life Kids and Life Youth. Afterwards, there will be an egg hunt.
•Easter Sunday activities begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church. Music and a special Biblical guest, Barabbas, are planned.
