A race developed on the first day of filings for the Republican nomination for Texas County clerk.

Other offices also will appear on the ballot. Bill Hickle of Rolla, the incumbent, filed for reelection to his judgeship in the 25th Circuit. He is completing his first term. Hickle is a Republican.

Two candidates filed for the 8th Congressional seat held by Republican Jason Smith, who filed last Thursday. They are Democrat Kathy Ellis of Festus and Libertarian Jonathan L. Shell of Fredericktown.
