The University of Missouri Texas County Extension Council and Missouri Farm Bureau are seeking nominations for an outstanding farm family from Texas County to be honored at the Missouri State Fair.

Criteria for selection:

• Farm families who are actively engaged in agriculture.

• Active support of and cooperation with MU Extension.

• Active in their community and in leadership roles with organizations such as Farm Bureau, church, school and other farm organizations.

• Active involvement with or support of youth organizations (such as 4-H and FFA).

• Respected by neighbors and community for their leadership and engagement.

Annual “Farm Family Day” at the fair is intended to honor the contributions farm families make to the economic viability and quality of life in Missouri. The Missouri Department of Agriculture, Missouri Farm Bureau, Missouri State Fair Board of Directors, University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and University of Missouri Extension jointly sponsor this recognition event.

This year’s Farm Family Day event is set for Monday, Aug. 13. The chosen family must be interested in attending the event and representing Texas County.
