The Chamber of Commerce sponsored carnival days in the downtown area with more than 4,000 carnival ride tickets purchased by local merchants to distribute to local persons.

Prize winners in the Texas County Soil and Water Conservation District Annual Poster Contest, from Raymondville, Houston and Licking were announced. The winners included Joe Creech, Kenneth Agee, Cindy Davis, Peggy Barnes, Kathy Hobbs, Teresa Hubbs, Mary Ann Smith, Franklin Neilson, Dewey Barton and Sandra Brallier.

At the Melba, Doris Day was in “Ballad of Josie.”

In the want ads, a three-acre tract of land near Houston with four room house and drilled well was advertised for $2,750.

The Bucyrus correspondent reported that Mrs. Wilma Craven took care of the Post Office and store last week while Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Douglas were on vacation.
