Missouri Ozarks Community Health (MOCH) celebrated its first anniversary in Houston with an open house event on Wednesday of last week.
MOCH is a private, non-profit organization funded by federal grants, and is one of six similar facilities owned and operated by Douglas County Public Health Services Group. The firm’s goal is to provide medical care to all citizens of Douglas, Ozark, Texas and Wright counties.
The MOCH clinic in Ava opened in 1996, and was followed by locations in Gainesville (2003), Mansfield (2005), Cabool (2013), Mountain Grove (2015) and Houston (2017). MOCH offers medical, behavioral, dental and pharmaceutical services, and accepts private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid. It also works with self-pay clients on a sliding scale based on income.
“We want to see whatever patient wants to access care at any of our clinics,” said CEO Tim Shryack. “We’re sort of a ‘one-stop shop.’”
MOCH in Houston is in the building on U.S. 63 across from Texas County Memorial Hospital that for years housed a family medical practice run by Dr. David Dale.
“We love the location across from the hospital,” Shryack said, “and we’ve developed some great relationships here in Houston.”
Visitors at last week’s open house learned what MOCH has to offer and were shown the results of a major refurbishing of the building and recent expansion that added four dental services rooms.

Missouri Ozarks Community Health dental coordinator Katrina Goff stands in one of four new dental services rooms at the organization’s Houston facility.
Houston clinic staff includes Dr. Josh Wolfe, who joined MOCH seven months ago. A full-time dentist – Dr. Cody Truss – joins the Houston staff this week.
As a private organization, MOCH is not affiliated with any medical network.
“But we work with whoever wants to work with us,” Shryack said.
