U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill has raised nearly $4 million in the first three months of 2018, the most raised by a Missouri U.S. Senate candidate in the first quarter of an election year.
McCaskill’s campaign on Monday reported raising more than $3.9 million between the end of December and March 31. In this election cycle, she has received contributions from 128,000 donors. Half of her donors this quarter had never given to her before.
Nearly 87 percent of McCaskill’s contributions were small-dollar donations of less than $100. The average was $70.
McCaskill now has more than $11.5 million in the bank as she faces a tough re-election battle. The Missouri Democrat is seeking her third Senate term this year in a state President Donald Trump won by nearly 19 percentage points.
