Members of the Texas County Commission conducted business on May 2 and May 9, according to minutes released on May 17. The commissioners:

• Received correspondence regarding a proposal for kitchen services.

• Reviewed and acknowledged the hiring of Conner Burnes as a fulltime dispatcher effective May 2 at a pay rate of $9.50 an hour.

• Acknowledged the resignation of Cheryl Reeder, dispatcher supervisor, as of April 20.

• Reviewed and acknowledged the hiring of Tammy Orchard as dispatcher supervisor with several years experience with the state’s law enforcement computer system. The pay is $11 per hour.

• Heard from Texas County Memorial Hospital CEO Wes Murray, who presented the recently completed annual audit of the county hospital to the commissioners. Also discussed were hospital bill issues between the hospital and the county jail. The minutes note “a hopeful resolution” between the two after the May 2 exchange.

• Heard a presentation from Jonathan Williams with EPM regarding electrical usage at the Texas County Administrative Center and Texas County Justice Center. A re-evaluation was approved to determine if cost savings are possible.

• Approved a payment to Wagner Law Group, St. Louis, for services.

• Reviewed an updated Open Meetings and Records Act request from George Sholtz of Plato.

• Heard from Marshall Stewart of the University of Missouri-Columbia’s University Extension program related to the local office and staffing needs. Stewart is MU’s vice chancellor for extension and engagement.
