A newly formed corporation bought the Ozark Manufacturing Co. of Houston thus insuring that the walnut manufacturing concern will remain here. The company was founded by the late Carl McKinney and several out-of-town persons expressed an interest in the concern. The incorporators are E.E. Romines, Joe Richardson, Ralph Lilly, Don Watson and Virgil Davis. Davis, an employee of the Missouri Conservation Commission, will be the full-time manager effective Aug. 1. The name has been changed to “Ozarks Walnut Inc.”

A new drive-in, the Horseshoe, will hold its official opening Saturday. It is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Hutcheson and will be operated by Murl Fair.

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Newman of Piedmont have purchased the residence of Dr. and Mrs. Scott Kramer. The Kramers are living in Swarthore, Pa.

C.C. Tuttle Jr. has been named to the board of directors of the Missouri L-P Gas Association.

A new coin-o-matic laundry has been opened by Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Arthur in the building formerly occupied by McGibney’s.

Terry Flowers was awarded a registered Jersey heifer from the Smith-Leeder farm. Flowers was designated the award for outstanding FFA work.

New airplanes have been purchased by Dr. Frank Elders and Mayor A.F. Hill.

The sixth annual meeting of the Houston Rural Fire Association was held. Re-elected were Eddie Nichols, treasurer; and Claude Laffoon and John T. Scheets, board members.
