A woman from Lebanon faces two felony charges after being accused of shoplifting several items and making fraudulent returns in late March at the Houston Walmart.
A Houston Police Department officer wrote in a probable cause statement that a Walmart official reported that on March 31, a woman and man entered the store with no merchandise. The official stated the two went to the electronics department, where they separated.
The woman reportedly then went around the store and placed several items into a cart, including DVDs, floor mats, jeans, household goods and groceries. She then went to the service desk and made three returns of items she allegedly hadn’t bought in the first place, obtaining about $64 cash.
The official said the woman then left the store without paying for the other merchandise.
Surveillance video and a photograph confirmed that the suspect was Darla R. Teiberis, 51, of 1617 Amy Drive at Lebanon. A computer check revealed that after an incident in Camdenton in May 2013, Teiberis had been banned from all Walmart properties.
A search of her criminal history showed that Teiberis had 10 prior stealing convictions, most recently in December 2016.
She is held in the Texas County Jail on $150,000 bond after charges were filed May 18.
