BILL MAXWELL

Billy “Bill” Lee Maxwell was born Nov. 29, 1929, in Howes Mill, Mo., to Jesse Jake and Minnie B (Sellers) Maxwell. He passed away June 13, 2018, at Houston House, Houston, Mo., at the age of 88.

Bill grew up in Howes Mill, Mo., and graduated from Caledonia High School in 1947. He married Maudeline Davis on April 22, 1949 in Salem, Mo., and to this union two boys were born, Roger and Dennis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mildred Victor and Jeanette Sims.

Bill is survived by his wife of 69 years, Maudeline Maxwell of Houston, Mo.; two sons, Roger Maxwell and wife, Cathy, and Dennis Maxwell and wife, Janice, all of Houston, Mo.; four grandchildren, William Maxwell and wife, Marcy, Mary Arnold and husband, Chris, Eric Maxwell and wife, Kerry, and Erin Snow and husband, Marcus; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Arnold, Lauren Arnold, Kaylee Maxwell and Spencer Maxwell; and two sisters, Gerene Bryant of Salem, Mo., and Maxine Vandivort of Sun City, Ariz.

He was a longtime member of Houston First Baptist Church. Bill worked for Kraft foods, Forbes Rexall Drug and was a bus driver for Houston Schools. He was also a sales representative in paint sales for several years, calling on businesses around the area.

Bill enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and family get-togethers. He especially enjoyed fish fries at Roger’s home and pizza parties and holidays at Dennis’ home. Bill could be found just about every morning drinking coffee and visiting with his buddies at McDonald’s.

Bill was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Graveside services were Friday, June 15, 2018, in Pine Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Russ Stigall officiating. Services were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. Pallbearers were William Maxwell, Chris Arnold, Eric Maxwell, Marcus Snow, Zach Arnold and Denney Thomason. Honorary pallbearers were Bruce Wilson, Mark Manier, Ed Goldsmith and Buck Wade.
