• The monthly meeting of the Texas County Republicans, 7 p.m. at the Houston Senior Center. Social hour with a potluck dinner is at 6 p.m. Rep. Robert Ross is the speaker.

JUNE 23

• Ozark National Scenic Riverways will host an “Art in the Park” evening from 4 to 7 p.m. Professional and aspiring artists are invited to paint, draw, sculpt or photograph during this open-air event on the bank of Alley Spring.

JUNE 24

• Fleet Reserve Association Branch 364 & unit meeting, 2:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall.

• Mt. Pisgah Free Will Baptist Church of Cabool will hold a 90th year celebration. The morning service starts at 10 a.m. and worship service is 11 a.m. A dinner is at noon, with an afternoon program starting at 1:30 p.m.

• A fireworks fundraiser to send teenagers from Launch Student Ministries to summer camp is from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily inside the air-conditioned student center on the church campus at Faith Fellowship. The church gives military, police and emergency personnel 15 percent off all orders. Others can save 10 percent by mentioning the story in the Houston Herald. All purchases are also tax free.

JUNE 26

• TCMH board meeting, noon at the hospital meeting room.

• Village of Plato board of trustees meeting, 7 p.m. in the meeting room at Legacy Bank and Trust.

• Fraternal Order of Eagels #3911 Auxiliary meeting, 7:30 p.m. at aerie south of Houston.

• The Houston school board meeting special session is at 6 p.m. in the central office.

• The Texas County Democrats will meet from 6-8 p.m. at Pizza Hut in Houston.

JUNE 28

• SMTS medical van to West Plains is taking appointments from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. For more information, call 800-392-0754.

• Texas County Health Department board meeting, 2 p.m. at its building on U.S. 63, north of Houston.

• Houston Area Chamber of Commerce board meeting, 4 p.m. at the Visitors Center.

• Houston Citizens for Education meeting, 7 p.m. at Houston High School library.

JUNE 30

• An Independence Day parade hosted by the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce begins at 10 a.m. and goes through downtown Houston.

• The Houston High School volleyball team’s rubber duck race fundraiser, 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Houston swimming pool. Duck decorating goes for the first 30 minutes before the race at 10 a.m. The grand prize is approximately $100 in gift certificates and items from local businesses. There will also be silent auction items, snow cones, popcorn and drinks.

• The annual fireworks show starts at dark at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgounds.
