A prisoner who walked away from the South Central Correctional Center at Licking in January will stand trial this fall in Waynesville.
John T. Long is charged with the escape, a felony, and will appear before a jury Sept. 25-26 in Pulaski County on a change of venue. A pre-trial conference is Sept. 4.
Long was assigned to a minimum-security unit and left his work assignment outside the secure perimeter.
Long, then 41, was seen on property near Highway VV and 137 south of Licking in early February, and captured a short time later by Licking police. Authorities said Long was still wearing gray pants and a brown jacket.

Long was received into Missouri Department of Corrections custody from Texas County on June 2, 2017. He had a parole date of Sept. 14, 2019. He has previous convictions for second-degree assault, operating a vehicle while intoxicated resulting in injury, possession of a controlled substance, resisting/interfering with arrest, second-degree domestic assault and misdemeanor stealing.
