DELORIS BOWLIN

Veta Deloris Bowlin, also known as Brownie, 80, daughter of Lua Duncan and Pearl Ann (Wiseman) Duncan, was born on July 18, 1937, in Evening Shade, Mo. She went to be with her Lord on June 30, 2018. She passed away at Texas County Memorial Hospital, Houston, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and eight brothers.

Deloris is survived by two daughters, Sandy Hobbs and husband, Dennis, of Houston, Mo., and Tammy Beasley of Summersville, Mo.; three sons, Randy James, Doug James and wife, Debbie, and Rocky Bowlin and wife, Jaimie, all of Houston, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Deloris grew up in the Roby area and attended grade school at Long Hollow and Bloodland schools and graduated from Plato High School.

She was married to Herbert James on July 20, 1955, until his death in February 1961. To this union three children were born. Deloris later married Farris Bowlin and to this union two children were born.

Deloris attended church at Houston Bible Baptist Church. She had accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at the age of eleven. She loved her church family.

Deloris loved working in her flower gardens and being with her children and grandchildren.

She worked for many years as an administrator for Texas County Residential Care in Houston, Mo., where she received many awards for her hard work and accomplishments. Deloris also worked for children’s homes around the area. After her retirement she went to work as a door greeter at Walmart in Houston, Mo.

Deloris was always known as having a big smile to brighten your day. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Evans Funeral Home with Pastor David Barbee officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Ryan Bowlin, Chris Hobbs, Jason Hobbs, Dalton James, Dakota James and Tanner Beasley.
