The Licking Police Department's K-9 Unit, Loki, lies on a table behind drugs and cash found inside a Kansas City man's vehicle.

A Kansas City man faces drug charges following his arrest early Tuesday at Licking.

According to a report, a Licking Police officer on patrol at about 3 a.m. observed a vehicle with an equipment violation traveling west on Highway 32 and conducted a traffic stop. The Licking K9 Unit, Loki, was requested during the traffic stop and a short-term drug investigation was conducted. 

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, a significant amount of drugs was seized, including approximately nine grams of methamphetamine, about seven grams of marijuana and DEA Schedule 2 controlled substance prescription pills. Located inside the vehicle was an electronic scale, baggies, drug paraphernalia and $3,980 in cash.

Timothy Joel Miller, 31, of Kansas City, was arrested for possession with intent to distribute, deliver, manufacture or produce a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Miller was transported to the Texas County Jail.

The seized narcotics were forwarded to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for further analysis. Once the analysis is confirmed, probable cause statements will be forwarded to the Texas County prosecutor’s office seeking formal charges.
