MEARL SIRDOREUS

Cleo “Mearl” (McCoy) Sirdoreus, 95, daughter of Claude and Ivy (McGuire) McCoy, was born in Embree, Mo., on Nov. 30, 1922. She passed away June 23, 2018, at Birchpointe Health and Rehab facility in Springfield, Mo.

She grew up in the Embree community and graduated from Plato High School in 1942. She married Arvel Sirdoreus on Oct. 4, 1943, at the Houston Courthouse and to this union four children were born.

Mearl accepted Christ as her Savior early in life. Her deep, personal faith in Christ carried her through Arvel’s military service, raising her children and guiding her grandchildren.

Mearl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arvel; three brothers, Don, Glen and Darrell McCoy; and two sisters, May Clark and Norma McCoy.

She is survived by her children, Dwane Sirdoreus and wife, Val, of Bucyrus, Mo., Gary Sirdoreus and wife, Lou, of Key Stone, Fla., Charlotte Barstead and husband, Ken, of Springfield, Mo., and Kathy Odle and husband, Don, of Houston, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Neva Johnson and husband, Marvin, of Anchorage Point, Alaska, and Vivian King and husband, Roger, of Dixon, Mo.; and a sister-in-law, Ina Thieman and husband, Jerry.

One of Mearl’s favorite things was being with her family and preparing meals. She enjoyed baking, reading and singing, especially with her daughters and family. She played musical instruments and helped in her church wherever she was needed. Mearl also loved working with Arvel in the Gideon ministry, sharing God’s love and salvation with others. Mearl worked at H.D. Lee for a short period and also had a daycare in her home.

To everyone who came her way, she had an open door, open heart and the love of sharing Jesus.

Services were 2 p.m. Saturday June 30, 2018, at Evans Funeral Home with Pastor David Holvick officiating. Burial was in Embree-Dutch Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Ryan Sirdoreus, Brian Odle, Adam Sirdoreus, Aaron Barstead, Jared Odle, Tyler Barstead and Jeff Barstead.
