Houston sales tax revenue distributed during the latest monthly outlay by the Missouri Department of Revenue was down about 1 percent from the same period a year ago.

Collections from a one-cent sales tax totaled $71,043, which is down $717 from the same period a year ago. For the year, $361,643 has been collected. That’s down $3,149 for the first half of the year compared to the first half of 2017.

Merchants also collect two, quarter-cent sales taxes for streets, sidewalks and utility work. Each totaled $17,513, which was down $177 from the same month a year ago. For the first half of 2018, the tally on each is $87,770, which is down $763 each from the same period in 2017.
