HIGHLIGHTS FROM HHS STUDENT HANDBOOK

The following are changes/additions to the 2018-’19 Houston High School handbook.

• Hats: Students are not permitted to wear hats or any head coverings while in campus buildings with exceptions being made for safety precautions when a head covering is necessary or during school sanctioned “hat days.”

• Electronic devices: Because of disruptions and interruption of the educational process, students are not allowed to use electronic devices, including cell phones, in the classrooms without teacher and/or administrative approval.

• Prom: Students must be in attendance the day before prom to be able to attend.

• Senior trip: To be eligible to attend, students must have 90 percent or better cumulative attendance and have no major discipline referrals resulting in out-of-school suspension during fourth quarter.

• Absent/involvement in school activities: All assignments are due no later than two days after returning from activity and students will obtain assignments from their teachers prior to leaving school.

• Grades: Students found to have a failing grade at the three-week grade check will be placed on academic probation for extra-curricular activities. If the student still has a failing grade at the next three-week grade check (in any course), the student will be ineligible to participate. If at the next three-week grade check the student no longer has a failing grading, the ineligibility will be removed.
