LISA DODD

Following an investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in July and another by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department in late August, a Houston man and woman each face numerous charges, including several felonies.

Charged are Paul F. Dodd, 46, and Lisa M. Dodd,  55, both of 9532 Highway E at Houston.

According to a report, an MSHP trooper on July 19 went to the Dodds’ residence in an attempt to contact them about a 1999 Chevrolet pickup that had been reported stolen in Audrain County that was allegedly in their possession. But the trooper believed the Dodds fled on foot upon his arrival.

A check of a black Chevy truck at the location revealed it was stolen.

During a search of the truck, numerous scrap metal sales receipts were found bearing the Dodds’ names, including one from that same day. Also found were a ringing cell phone, a marijuana pipe with a green leafy substance and burned residue in the bowl and a Styrofoam cup containing an icy cold beverage.

The items led the officer to conclude the truck had been recently occupied.

The investigation led to the Dodds each being charged with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle (a class D felony) and misdemeanors of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

According to another report, TCSD deputies on Aug. 25 went to the camper trailer the Dodds were living in to arrest them on felony parole warrants, but the two fled on foot after seeing the officers, despite being told several times to stop.

One deputy caught up with Lisa Dodd and apprehended her about 70 yards from the trailer, and the other stopped Paul Dodd about 100 yards from it.

While she was detained near the camper, she asked a deputy to lock it up. While doing so, the officer observed in plain view a syringe containing a white liquid that tested positive as methamphetamine, and an eyeglass case that contained several empty syringes and small plastic bags.

After receiving consent to search the trailer, officers found a bag containing items used to manufacture meth and a bag containing pot. During the search, She told officers there was a .22-caliber pistol inside a doghouse about 25 feet from the trailer.

Felony charges resulting from the TCSD investigation included drug possession, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of methamphetamine precursors and resisting or interfering with an arrest for a felony, while misdemeanors included possession of drugs and paraphernalia.

Paul Dodd is held in the Texas County Jail. Bond for the charges from the July case is set at $150,000. Bond from the August case is set at $250,000.

Lisa M. Christ Dodd is in a state prison at Vandalia on a theft charge that brought a five-year sentence.
