Houston High School graduate Victoria McCloud, center, was one of five State Fair softball players who were named academic all-Americans.

Victoria McCloud, a 2017 Houston High School graduate and sophomore softball player at State Fair Community College, recently received the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Easton All-American Scholar Athlete award for achieving a 3.5 grade-point average or higher the previous academic year.

McCloud was one of five SFCC softball players to receive the honor.

“Our goal is to eventually have the whole team receive this honor,” said State Fair coach Lyndsey Talbot. “I tell the girls all the time that you can play softball for up to four years, but you are going to be working for the next forty. They need to make sure that they have their priorities straight. We take academics very seriously in the program.

“I am very proud of the accomplishments of these five student-athletes because they not only lead academically, but they also lead in other areas of our program.”
