At halftime of a Houston High School boys basketball game on Dec. 15, Romines Motor Co. co-owner Don Romines, center, his wife Barbara and Romines employee Christie Koch present a check for ,000 to Houston School District superintendent Allen Moss, right. The funds were collected during Romines' annual Drive 4UR School fundraiser last September and went toward the purchase of new doors for high school and middle school classrooms that are designed to increase safety in the event of an armed intruder situation.

The seventh annual Drive 4UR School fundraising event to benefit Houston Schools is set for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15  at Romines Motor Co. in Houston.

For every test drive of a Ford vehicle during the event, Ford Motor Co. will donate $20 to the cause, up to $8,000.

In past similar events, Romines has raised more than $47,300. Past monies raised were used to purchase e-readers for the high school library, help install air conditioning in Hiett Gymnasium, expand the security system, help build the “Tiger Pride Commons Area,’ purchase audio visual system for the Library Media Center and buy white boards and projectors.

This year the money raised will go to updating security systems around the campus.
