Houston city administrator Tona Bowen joined more than 700 local officials and municipal employees Sept. 16-19 at the 84th annual Missouri Municipal League conference in Branson.
The annual MML conference is the largest training event, where attendees learn about the most pressing issues facing Missouri cities, including cybersecurity, economic development, budgeting and Missouri’s Sunshine Law. Other sessions included fraud prevention, rural development and legislative challenges faced at the state and federal level.
“Attending the Missouri Municipal League Annual Conference is a great opportunity to learn about innovative approaches to solve ongoing municipal issues,” Bowen said.
“Both times I attended the conference I have been able to bring a new method or tool back home that enriches Houston.”
“Local government makes everything you love most about your community happen, from your local main street to parks to safe transportation,” said MML executive director Dan Ross. “A city’s local officials ensure quality of life through services citizens may not think about, like clean tap water or repaired streets. MML works to provide the training and resources these officials need for keeping their community strong.”
The Missouri Municipal League provides a united voice for municipalities across Missouri. Founded in 1934, MML serves more than 640 municipalities with training, resources and legislative advocacy for local government success.
