A seven-year-old child was injured Sunday night when a vehicle struck a deer on Highway 17 near Bucyrus.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Ava Allen, 7, of Success, was taken by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital. She had minor injuries.
The driver, Kristen D. Elliott, 37, of Success, was uninjured. She and Allen were both wearing seat belts.
The 8:15 p.m. accident was three miles west of Bucyrus. The 2005 Dodge Durango that Elliott was driving had moderate damage.
