Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, at Evans Funeral Home, Houston.

Glenn Young Jr., 57, son of Glenn Freeman and Elsie Jean (Moreland) Young, was born May 15, 1961, in Randolph County, Ill. He passed away Oct. 21, 2018, in his wife’s arms at their home in Houston, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his only son, Jonathan Marc Young.

He is survived by the love of his life his wife, Jane of Houston, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Felicia Wilkinson and her husband, Keith (whom Glenn thought of as a son) and Priscilla Manes; two daughters-in-law, Cheri Yarnall and Ashley Young; 15 grandchildren; as well as numerous friends he called his family.

Raised in Rockford, Ill., at the young age of 15 Glenn found himself on his own. He worked odd jobs and over time decided he needed a new start. In the early 1980s Glenn moved to Missouri, where he met Lisa (Ayers) Wait. They married in April of 1984 and this union produced one son, Jonathan. The couple divorced in 1989. Glenn would finally meet his soulmate in 2001, Jane Hayes and they married in August 2007 at their home in Houston, Mo.

Glenn enjoyed his work and was well known at Pizza Express for his ability to make the best pizza in town. He began his long career working for Richard and Linda Wood back in the mid 80s. First, working at Chester Chicken and then at Pizza Express as his health allowed.

He loved the time he spent with his grandchildren, fishing, floating, listening to music playing pool, Guitar Hero and darts, collecting cast iron racing cars and many bladed objects. He had an extensive movie collection beyond compare. Glenn enjoyed his scary movies but had a passion for movies and documentaries involving UFOs. He loved sharing his movies and his time hanging out with his friends that were like family to him.

Out of respect for his father’s role in WWII, Glenn was interested in the Battle of the Bulge. He built an extremely detailed one seventy second scale miniature battlefield replica that he proudly displayed in his movie room. Glenn was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend; he would have done anything for the people he loved. Now safe in the arms of Jesus, he will be greatly missed.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, at Evans Funeral Home with Lynn Gayer officiating. Per his wishes, he was cremated after services under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
